Our Support Guidelines

What you can expect

  1. We'll do our best to help you troubleshoot and fix any issues you encounter using our plugins or tutorials. However, we can only provide support for technical issues related to installing and using the plugin as outlined on the installation page.

  2. We can't always help with customizations or development services beyond what we've presented in the installation instructions. We hope you understand.

  3. We reserve the right to refuse support services for any reason, including if you're being rude or unreasonable. We want to help you, but let's keep it friendly, okay?

  4. We can't guarantee compatibility with all other plugins, templates, or third-party software.

  5. Our support is available as a best-effort service, so we can't promise a specific resolution time for all issues.

  6. We usually require admin access to your website to help diagnose and resolve issues, thank you for your trust.

  7. We always respond. Unfortunately, we don’t control the email pipes, so occasionally our response may end up in your junk box or get stuck somewhere in the inter-webs, but we always respond.

  8. We reserve the right to change or end our support services at any time, without warning.

  9. If you use our support services, you agree to these guidelines.

Troubleshooting

If you’re question isn’t answered here, please fill out the support form below.

This usually means the Collection page which you've linked to the component is ‘disabled’ or ‘password protected’, if you enable the page then the component should work as expected.

You should have received a few auto-emails from us post purchase of the plugin. One of these emails should have a link and password to the installation page.

Alternatively, if you created an account when you purchased plugin, you should be able to sign in to your account, navigate to your Account Settings » Orders area and redownload the file with your link and password.

If neither of those options are working, just shoot us a message using the form above and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.

Please do, we just ask that you ensure you’re using the Multi Use License for this use case.

It shouldn’t do no, Squarespace runs thousands and thousands of lines of code to render your website, our Plugin won’t substantially increase that. All that being said though, we do recommend ensuring you stay within Squarespace’s recommended limits for section / block numbers.

Here is what Squarespace’s support docs say about page, section, and block limits, for your convenience. Be sure to reference their help documentation for the latest and most up-to-date numbers.

Reference

Squarespace Content Limits, May 2, 2024

Auto layouts - No official limit, but we recommend no more than 250 items, as pages with too much content may load and save slowly

Blog pages - No limit for the number of blog posts you can add to a blog page

Events pages - Up to 350 events per month

Fluid Engine sections - Up to 1000 grid rows

Dropdowns - No official limit, but we recommend a maximum of 10 pages to keep drop-down menus manageable

Gallery sections - Up to 250 images

Layout pages - We recommend adding no more than 60 blocks per page, as pages with too many blocks may load and save slowly

Page sections - No official limit, but we recommend adding no more than 20 sections per page, as pages with too much content may load and save slowly

Portfolio pages - Up to 60 sub-pages

Portfolio sub-pages - We recommend adding no more than 60 blocks per sub-page, as sub-pages with too many blocks may load and save slowly

Store pages - Can't exceed the site-wide limit of 10,000 products

Videos pages - Up to 10,000 videos, but the video limits and requirements apply

Hidden content will get indexed by Google, but ‘fetched’ content will not.

For example, the Tabs plugin works by either ‘fetching’ content via a portfolio collection or rearrange sections on the page. The fetched content will not be indexed by Google, as this is an asynchronous request. The rearranged content will get indexed by Google.

Don’t take my word for it. You can always check what Google is indexing on a page using the Google Search Console. See more about indexing with this documentation from Google on where to find it.

You can also toggle off SEO in the Page or Collection Settings for it to not be indexed.

Squarespace doesn’t allow custom code on personal plans, they are considered Premium Features.

If you’re on a personal plan, I have found a work-around that has worked for many years, but Squarespace might change this at any point, so use at your own risk.

The work-around is to add the installation <script> & <link> into a Markdown Block anywhere in one of your Footer sections (Edit Page » Edit Footer Sections). And then use Markdown Blocks anytime you would otherwise need a Code Block.

As of today, July 5th, 2024, this method still works, but we don’t support this method as it could change at any moment and it’s outside of the limits of what we have control over.

For us to help with an issue, we need to be able to see the problem on your website.

You can either add support@will-myers.com as an Admin to your website or you can password protect your website and share the password with us.

We’d prefer being added as an Admin on the website as this helps us resolve the issue quicker. And we need to be Admin, as this is the only one that allows us to view code. You can do this in the Settings » Permissions area.

There are some cases where just sharing the password protected website works as well though. You can do this by going to Settings » Site Visibility » Password Protect and sharing the password with us.
